Trump Slams ABC, Hints at Second Debate with Harris: “They Ought to Take Away Their License”

Former President Donald Trump hinted he may be open to a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, despite previously ruling it out, while launching a scathing attack on ABC News for what he called their “biased” handling of the first debate. Trump accused the network’s moderators of siding with Harris, effectively debating him instead of holding her accountable.

During a press conference in California on Friday, Fox News’ Aishah Hasnie asked Trump what it would take for him to reconsider another debate with Harris.

“I wouldn’t need anything. I could do it tomorrow,” Trump responded. “I’ve done two debates. Everything was crooked in the second one.”

Though he initially dismissed the idea of a rematch, Trump left the possibility on the table. “I did great in the debates, and I think they’ve answered everything. But maybe if I got in the right mood, I don’t know,” he added, while claiming he was “leading in every single” post-debate poll, though no specific data was mentioned.

Trump has been critical of ABC News since the debate. “They’re dishonest. ABC took a BIG hit last night—They ought to take away their license for doing that,” Trump said, referring to the widespread criticism of the network’s perceived bias. Many observers accused ABC’s moderators of acting as Harris’ backup, debating Trump themselves instead of pressing her on critical issues.

The backlash against ABC has intensified since the debate, with Trump’s remarks echoing concerns about media impartiality. His suggestion that ABC’s handling was so egregious that they “ought to take away their license” underscores just how seriously Trump views the network’s role in the event and may explain his reluctance to participate in future debates under similar conditions.
