A longtime Rush Street favorite is making its comeback. After more than two years away, Carmine’s, one of Chicago’s most iconic Italian restaurants, is set to reopen Monday in a newly renovated space in the Gold Coast.
The Rosebud Group confirmed the restaurant will welcome diners back to 1037 North Rush Street, reviving the classic pastas and signature red sauces that made Carmine’s a neighborhood institution before it closed for renovations in 2023.
The refreshed restaurant now occupies a second-floor space overlooking Rush Street and Mariano Park. Inside, deep wood finishes, brass accents, and leather banquettes create a modern take on the traditional Italian supper club, while large windows bring in natural light by day and a warm glow at night.
Carmine’s will feature a main dining room, a 40-seat private event space, and an enclosed, four-season terrace with year-round views of the Gold Coast.
Familiar menu returns
Fans can expect the return of Rosebud Classics, including Square Noodles, Homemade Eight-Finger Cavatelli, Meatball Salad, Mama Maria’s Famous Braciole, and Carmine’s well-known Parmesan dishes. The restaurant says its celebrated red sauce—made fresh daily at the Rosebud commissary—will taste just as guests remember.
Steak lovers will also find prime cuts sourced from a local butcher, highlighted by an 18-ounce USDA Prime strip steak and a 48-ounce Steak Florentine prepared tableside.
Menu prices are expected to range from $31 to $90.
