Nine years. Same title. Endless reasons why.
Chicago has once again been named the Best Big City in the United States by readers of Condé Nast Traveler — marking an incredible nine-year winning streak that no other city can touch.
More than 750,000 travelers cast their votes, celebrating Chicago’s perfect mix of architecture, culture, food, and that unmistakable Midwest warmth.
Kristen Reynolds, president and CEO of Choose Chicago, called the award an “extraordinary honor” that shows how visitors truly connect with the city.
“This comes from some of the world’s most experienced travelers, and it confirms what we already know — Chicago is a world-class city with unmatched beauty, culture, and hospitality,” Reynolds said. “At a time when people sometimes overlook that, this recognition helps share the real spirit and energy of our city with the world.”
And there’s plenty of momentum behind the win. The city’s tourism industry is on a high note, coming off its strongest summer ever. Between June and August, over 3.5 million hotel rooms were booked, a 4.3% jump from last year, with revenues climbing past $948 million — a new record.
From the skyline that stops you in your tracks to world-famous food, iconic music venues, and neighborhoods packed with personality, Chicago continues to prove why it’s the city everyone wants to visit — and keeps coming back to.
“Visitors from all over the globe come here and leave inspired,” Reynolds said. “That’s the power and pride of Chicago.”
Nine years strong — and the crown doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
